Who says young people in hoods are nothing but trouble?

I had the wonderful privilege of being involved in two outreach programs this summer, the obvious one being Xpression and the week after I was in Armagh with Momentum doing much the same thing. As always in previous years you never cease to learn and grow from the experience. Week one with Xpression was probably one of the most difficult years for many down the Garvaghy Road and Obins Street, yet great blessings came from the hardships. New and deeper relationship have been built up with these communities, and also with many people whom I get a chance to talk to during the year through kids club. Once again so many people found it hard to grasp why Christian people and the church want anything to do with them. I even bumped into a man (who is not a Christian but has his theistic presuppositions) who was surprised that we were actually Christian. Praise be to God we can separate peoples view of “the church” from the love of Christ and what had in mind for his bride.

Momentum was refreshing for myself as I was now one of the youngest on my team. I believe everyone was challenged on the Wednesday morning being reminded not to get so caught up in tasks and the jobs of the week that we end up forgetting our first love. These two weeks have challenged me with regard my own need for the cross and to be reminded of it’s power and work everyday of my life and also I think that sleep is God’s way of saying your not god.

“rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”

Colossians 2:7

( I forgot to take any photos throughout the whole 2 weeks, sorry!)
