Weird Words
So we're back. Yay for some, nay for hay. One of the events which left some loners standing outside the CE doors at 8pm on the 8th November was of course, the CE Weekend in Castlewellan Castle.
For those who were on it I'm sure you'd all agree it was a banterous weekend, for those who weren't.....get out. (Any funny stories, or momentous occasions do share) No really, let's stay. Stay, my friend, and get away from all of life's tough times, from the homework's, from the nagging, let's join as one to sing of how thankful we are to be reading this, how deeply it has touched our lives. After 3, 1-2....ok sidetracked.
Anyhoo, one of the conversations which cropped up a few times at the dinner table on the weekend seemed to poke my little brain ever since the weekend, always at those awkward moments, when talking to your granny, when meant to be taking notes in class.
I'll not mention any names as to who began this monstrosity, (STUART MCKEOWN) which will force us to (STUART MCKEOWN) crawl into a ball in the corner, (SM) and consequently implement the lives of our future children (STUARTY MACK.) So yes, Mr. Anonymous posed the question, "Why do people always assume tomato is pronounced the way it is? It's toe-mah-toe gosh." And it got me thinking, and here I am now at the lappy-toppy, analysing every word I read and trying to consider whether it has an alternative pronunciation.
Here's what I got, but I'm thinking it's a pretty poor effort. So guys I need your help. Comment your ideas, and the winner will get a ripe toe-mat-toe, fresh from the hills of Yemen.
