I bought a book for my dad on his birthday: Top Ten for Men. The perfect toilet book. Just a load of top ten lists: top ten most obese countries, top ten unusual deaths. It's quite interesting.
Anyway, there was a list of top ten words searched for on the internet.
I suppose I shouldn't be surprised but it was worrying to see that the most searched for topics were - how can I put it - very "adult" in nature.
The internet has a reputation for being full of porn sites. And maybe there's some truth in that if that top ten list is right.
So are we, as we go onto the internet, opening ourselves up to a world of dirt and lust? Many of us spend a fair chunk of our time on the net. It's becoming more and more part of our lives.
So what do we do? Should we shun the internet altogether? What makes us vulnerable to the darker side of the web?
There are websites you can sign up to which basically make you accountable to what you look at. Are these a good idea, or are they just highlighting our inability to control our desires?
Thoughts please.
